from Kristen on the road
We left Denver around midday on Thursday and pushed Garmin to its limits by plugging in a mountainside home in Conifer, CO that my dear friend that I haven’t seen in 7 years lives. Matt and I met when we participated in Green Mountain Teen Institute, when I was a junior in high school. He moved away from VT, met his beautiful wife Tiffany and had a little girl, Molly who is now almost 2. They built their mountainside abode – which is an absolute wonder. To Garmin’s credit – we did not get lost once and Matt said it was the first time anyone had made it to their home without getting a phone call needing directions!
We then started making our way across the state and stopped in Lake Dillon, CO to camp for the night. We had to drive around the lake to find an open campsite and when we did, we had to race the sun to get our tent up in time. The campground was nestled in the Rockies next to a crystal blue lake. We felt for one of the first times the magnitude of the the trip we are on and how many beautiful places there are to be seen in this country.
On to Salt Lake City…..
